The Heart Behind the Harmony

KOKORO takes its name from a Japanese concept that connects heart, mind, and spirit.

We bring together the craftsmanship of Mexico with a philosophy rooted in balance, intention, and refinement.

The result is a tequila that feels distinctly KOKORO.

Crafted in Mexico

KOKORO is made at Destiladora Bonanza (NOM 1604) under the guidance of Maestra Tequilera Rocío Rodríguez, carrying forward a tradition of tequila-making that spans more than 140 years.

Made from 100% Blue Weber agave from the Highlands of Jalisco, our tequila is crafted to be soft and beautifully balanced, with vibrant fruit, earthy depth, and a lingering savory finish.

Each step is considered for what it brings to the final experience: balance, texture, and character.

Slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens.

Gently crushed by a stone tahona.

Open-air fermented in pine pipones with native yeast, then copper pot distilled.

Inspired by Japanese Philosophy

Kokoro has no direct English translation. It describes the place where heart, mind, and spirit come together.

That point of harmony shapes more than our tequila. It influences how we think about design, hospitality, generosity, and the experiences we create around KOKORO.

Balance over excess.
Intention over noise.
Experience over display.

Understated by Design

Our bottle reflects the same philosophy as the tequila within: considered, balanced, and free of excess.

Its distinctive silhouette is inspired by traditional forms, reinterpreted with a modern simplicity that feels unmistakably KOKORO.

Every detail has a purpose, from the circular handle to the restrained palette and textures.

Designed to be remembered without demanding attention.

A Personal Perspective

KOKORO grew from a belief that some of the most meaningful ideas emerge when different cultures and perspectives come together.

Founder Howard Cao has long been drawn to the way design, culture, and hospitality can shape an experience. Growing up around different cultures and traditions gave him an appreciation for the details that bring people together: good food, thoughtful design, meaningful conversation, and the simple ritual of sharing a drink.

KOKORO is an expression of that perspective, bringing together the craftsmanship of Mexico and a Japanese philosophy of harmony to create something distinctive, considered, and meant to be shared.
